Pressure

by Polly   Jan 8, 2005

It shouldn't be about looks or shape.
It shouldn't be about appearance and performance.
It shouldn't be about vanity and arrogance.
It shouldn't be about experience or regularity.
It shouldn't be gloated about told to everyone..
But it is. And if you don't have
all those things, no looks, no experiences, no pride in yourself -
What can you do?
I don't know where I can turn anymore.
I wish I was beautiful
and glamerous
and desirable.
But I'm not. And to have that thrown in your face
hurts.
It's this pressure, that you can't control.
From everyone
From yourself.
And I don't know how much more I can take.

{ I don't know if this is a poem or not really. I just wanted to get it out. 'Cause poems are about feelings, and this is how I feel. }

That was definitely a poem..and a great one at that! Just because it is in a format or because it rhymes does not make it a poem. A poem is expression; something that you jot down on a piece of paper that comes from your heart and that's exactly what i saw. This has depth; it moved me. It is a poem and i loved it!
