Things That I Love

by Michelle   Jan 9, 2005

Big soft snowflakes, gliding gracefully to my toes,
Strolling through English gardens, stopping to smell a rose...
Nestling a new baby, snug up to my chest,
These are some of the things that I love the best...
Walking through the woods on a colorful autumn day,
Falling into a good book, as I drift away...
An "I love you" from my son, accompanied by a peck on the nose
These are just some of the things to inspire this prose...
Time spent with close friends who want only the best for me,
Those moments I've given my all to be the best I can be...
Chatting on the phone to loved ones far and near
These are the things that my heart holds dear.
Cuddled on the couch in a thunderstorm,
lightning flashing all around,
A newly-born robin in spring, making a sweet chirping sound.
Those times to myself spent in silence, not another in sight
These are things that make my soul take flight.
A hot, lazy day in summer with our ice-cream cones,
Going down to the lake, skipping some stones...
Cranking up my favorite cd, and jamming away
These things never fail to brighten my day...
What are your favorite things in this world?
At times there's so much heartache
that at us is hurled...
Just remember: there are many gifts also-- both large and small
That can keep us uplifted, if we don't choose to fall.

This is one of five new submissions...I wrote them originally under the name Amber Rose and decided to post them now under my name..hope you enjoy them...xxx

Sometimes we poets are so sad,it is good to be reminded of how many beautiful things there are in the world, this was very refreshing!

I also thought this was reminiscent of the song "My Favorite Things" from "The Sound of Music."

This was such a beautifully inspired poem. I think it serves to remind us all of how much joy and delight can be found in some of life's simplest pleasures.

A wonderfully written poem that just seems to flow from one line to the next.

It sort of reminds me of that song from 'The Sound of Music' I think it's called something like 'These are a few of my favouite Things'. Have a listen to it and you will see what I mean.

    Keep Writing.
