That Fake Smile

You can hide many things behind a smile,

Your thoughts, your pain, your anger, but meanwhile,

Everyone believes you’re someone your not,

You’re sad all the time and you cry a lot,

Why would anyone want to know the real you?

If they found out your friends would be few.

If you had a choice what would you do?

Be really popular while not being you?

Or act like the girl we all know you are.

Open up to people and show them your scares,

Trust a few people to be a real friend,

And if they aren’t there you won’t need them in the end.

The only person you really need is you,

That way you can never get screwed,

But then again when you think, what fun is that?

To be a loner through life and never chitchat,

Maybe you should stick with that fake smile,

At least you will have friends, and a life that’s worthwhile.

But you can’t help to wonder, why you can’t just be you,

Are the new friends you made going to be true?

This world is crazy and you may never understand,

Just know that you are always in control of your own command!
