Winter Noon

by Daniel J   Jan 19, 2005

I sat upon a metal bench,
on a late winter 'noon,
the cold was there for all to feel,
and i gazed toward the moon.

People walked,
people jogged,
people drove their cars.

But did the people see the beauty,
or simply pass it by,
as they went about their duty,
did they cast their eye?

the sun was setting in the west,
and had cast upon the sky,
colours so magnificent,
i simply can't relate.

Even though the trees were bare,
the grass was green and lush,
and the people trod upon it,
not seeing what was there.

So the sun continued on its way,
to start another day,
to a different part of our world,
where it would shine with strength untold.

The sun had almost gone,
and the clouds were looking pink,
it continued on its route,
to sink, to sink, to sink.

The smell of rain filled the air,
and a drizel had begun,
people took to cover,
for the rain did they shun.

I sat upon that metal bench,
lonely as could be,
wanting for nothing more...

than for someone to watch with me.
