The more I think about it...

by Maegan   Jan 19, 2005

You know the more that I think about it
The more I feel the need
To thank you for being so
Horribly mean to me
Because you broke down my defenses
And left me cold and senseless
Just in time for him to come
And make me warm again
You know the more I think about it
The more I want to say
That every friggin thing you did
To me is going to be OK
Because I’m over it now
And the pain has finally disappeared
In fact the only time I feel the emptiness
Is when you are near
You know the more I think about it
The more I want to tell you
That even though I hate you
I would never sell you
And the holes you left in my heart
We’re great for him to fill
In fact without you I don’ t think
I would have believed it was real
Unconditional love he gave
But thanks because you saved
Me the trouble of pushing him away
Because he was all I needed
All I needed
You know the more I think about it
And the tears I wasted on you
The more I think that maybe it was
Just something I had to go through
To make me smile this widely
I feel like my soul is brightening
And you know… I am fortunate
Because the more I think about it
The happier I become
Because if you hadn’t killed me that day
I still would feel numb
And I might still be lying
To the world around
And I might just still be pretending
That I wasn’t going down
But he took my hand
And he helped me to my feet
The more that I think about it
The more I live in that defeat
That you made me feel that day
When you took everything away
Because I had the chance you see
To become… well... Me.
