She was Me

by AllHailTheHeartbreaker   Jan 23, 2005

He couldn't undertstand
Why she'd chosen him
When she could've had anyone
Her light made all of the others dim.

And he held her tightly, close to him
As if that could keep her from slipping away
But catching her was like trying to catch smoke
And no one could make her stay.

But she'd stayed so far
So he relaxed a little
Although her unfailing confident heart
Made his own seem so brittle.

Oh, he loved her so much
He lost himself in her eyes
Her slightest touch sent chills up his spine
In the dark safety of the winter nights.

She'd always been a heartbreaker
But his love was something she was needing
When her life spun out of control
He could make her heart stop bleeding.

Their perfect, pure love was envied
By all of their jealous friends
But they always managed to get through it all
And tie up all loose ends.

But then another tried to steal her away
But no one knew
That there was only one
For whom her love was true.

You ask me how I know this
And how this love story came to be
Well, I'll tell you the truth:
She was me.
