Jessica Lynch: A Hero

They all deceased, only you were left
From the 507th Maintenance Company

You don’t remember anything afterward
From your capture through to your rescue
Last you remember kneeling down and praying
For gracious God above to help you

At the hospital in Nasiriyah
They claimed they treated you very well
I believe that, I believe it with all my heart
But still, in my eyes, tears start to swell.

If it wasn\'t for a daring man, Mohammed
you may have still been there,
He told him where you were held captive
He made our soldiers well aware

“Jessica Lynch, we are the United States soldiers,
And we’re here to take you home” they said
“I am an American soldier, too”, you replied
On the night of your rescue, as you lay in your bed

But still, the way we rescued you
Let our destructions lay ravaged and un-kept
Was that really our United States?
Are we really that thickheaded, that inept?

Jessica Lynch, a hero to most, but not herself
And that is her most prominent attribute
An attribute of a hero lying deep in our hearts
For the many dreams you contribute
