Painful Blessings

by Kia   Jan 26, 2005

She’s missing out on school
And things she used to love
People ask where she is
She’s gone all because of

A night of pleasure
A night of fun
Just being a teen
But now that’s done

All that’s different
Nothing’s the same
This isn’t a joke
This isn’t a game

Her life’s gonna be different
Being a mommy at seventeen
It’s really gonna be hard
When his daddy is nineteen

Her life’s much different
A teen she can be no longer
Each day her stomach will grow
As her child grows stronger

Soon the day will come
When she will hold him near
That’s when reality will hit her
That her sleep will disappear

To sit and watch him grow
What joy that brings
But she can’t help but think
Of why she missed so many things

Kicked out her junior year
Not allowed to go to prom
Her baby’s sick and still at home
He just wanted his mom

In order to go out with the girls
She has to find someone to watch her child
Even then she has to be responsible
No more parties, she can’t be wild

She’s not living for herself
She has someone to care for
A sweet innocent baby
A child she does adore.
