You Reached for My Hand

by Molly Elizabeth   Feb 4, 2005

You hopefully reached for my hand
and regrettfully I pulled away.
You walked by my side, and held open the door.
But all I wanted was to get away.

You wanted me and everyone knew,
so much pain I had been through,
and I know you felt that pain too
but I felt I must reject you, that I couldn't be with you.

You put your arm around me
and said so many nice things.
I couldn't take your compliments,
your touch... I wasn't used to this care, it was too much.

Why did I do what I did?
Put my stubborn will aside,
I finally let you in my life
when I should have ran to hide.

You were so good to me
in every single way
it seemed that we couldn't last
we seemed so perfect that day.

You reached for my hand,
but instead you got my heart,
and as I slowly regained my trust
you slowly tore it apart.
