That Kiss

by Kayleigh Hogg   Feb 9, 2005

Whilst sitting by the hot fire
I remember a time long ago
A time when I was young, carefree and in love…

I remember how the weather was that day
It was sunny and everyone was sitting out in their gardens.
I remember the smell of freshly cut grass
As summer had finally arrived.

My best friend Luke lived next door to me
He has blondish hair and ocean blue eyes
He’d always been my best friend
Ever since I can remember,
But on that particular day
I seen something in his eyes
Something that I hadn’t seen before
They were filled with such passion and love.

His crimson lips suddenly looked so big and inviting
And at that moment
I felt him slowly steal my heart.

I don’t know what changed
But almost immediately everything about him
Seemed so attractive
His smell,
The way his hair was slightly messed up
And the smooth tone of his voice.

We walked together to school
As we did every day
But this time felt different
We decided that we would walk the long way to School
Across the meadows.

As we walked between the rainbow of different coloured flowers
I felt his hand touch mine
And when I lifted up my gaze
We were unexpectedly standing face to face
He then runs his fingers through my hair
And spoke a thousand words without moving his lips.

He then placed one hand on my lower back
And kept his other hand in the weaves of my hair
Then he kissed me.

I can still feel the butterflies
I felt at that precise moment
The moment our lips were drawn together like magnets.

For that 60 seconds
My senses were disabled
All I could see was Luke’s image in my head
All I could hear was the sound of my heartbeat
All I could feel was the warmness of Luke’s mouth.
For that moment in my life
Nothing else mattered.

Luke and me spend the rest of the summer together
It was the best summer of my life
But even though I was really happy,
I was sad knowing it would come to an end.

When September came
And the Sun had said its goodbyes
So did Luke and me.
We went to different colleges
And he’d sworn to stay in touch.

He never did get in touch
And who knows, if he did we could have got married and even started a family
But I can’t keep replaying ‘what- ifs’ in my mind
All I can keep replaying is that kiss.

an emotional story definatly! It was like I was there. Magnificantly portraied and it didn't matter if it didn't rhyme because I barely noticed it. Great Job!
