The Cold(Winter Night)

by Whispering*Willow(Mercedes)   Feb 11, 2005

The winter froze, that Moonless night.
Clouds of hot breath shimmered white.
Her finger tips turned navy blue.
The fear of death wasn't new.

Cars drove past her, large and noisy.
The people in them;warm and cozy.
Tonight, she felt would not be kind.
She blocked death from her mind.

The icy pavement numbed her toes.
Crystals hung from her nose.
The biting wind muffled her cry.
"I vow",she said"I will not die".

Shades of red for passionate love.
Dripped off her lips onto her glove.
She stared wordlessly and unnerved.
Death was wholly undeserved.

With no place to call her home,
She was sentenced to the world to roam.
Always hungry,sometimes cold.
"Except death deary,you're getting old".

Said she"A moments rest will do me so".
She watched the sky as it started to snow.
They froze together slowly as one.
She died at the dawning of the Sun.

I would really appreciate any comments you have to offer!!
