Firestarter

by Unrequited   Feb 13, 2005

Painful to watch
painful not to look
beware of skin
goldenly overcooked
take it away
leave me be
fold your hands
forever with me

feel my heart
it’s beating hard, you see
a level of comfort unknown to man
a religious gash to the head
you realize the distance set between you
call her up,
she’s waiting for the phone to ring
the hope of a friend is all she has left
give it a second chance

the illegitimate fire starter
so innocent in a way
wants to feel numb no longer
pray for what you want
for what you don’t deserve
pray
beneath
the shadows
of the tree reborn
in your skin
lit aflame
by the fire starter

pop
the noise of a gun
stop!
don’t move
he’s watching for you
once warm, the flame fades away
and the spyders reclaim what’s theirs
now you own nothing

seashells resting beneath the night air
so soothing, so sweet
realignment of stars
forgets the son
regrets the war
awaits for light
as the eagles soar
and the night- so perfect, so still
remains in your heart
as in mine
