A simple mistake

by oOXkonnXOo   Feb 18, 2005

The curtain's drawn
the stage is set
a single darkened silhouette

a lonesome man
his heart withdrawn
without the will to carry on

he's lost it all
his life is spent
he moans a desolate lament:

"she's gone, she's gone!
how could I make
such a terrible mistake?!"

tears of remorse
stream down his face
as he recalls their last embrace

he promised her
he'd always be
there by her side eternally

but as they drove
into the night
he went too fast through a red light

he heard a scream
and then a crash
as into his car the traffic clashed

time stretched on
'till he awoke
to sirens wailing their reproach

he shouted out
in agony,
"where is the girl who was with me?!"

and in response
a horrific sight-
her mangled body bereft of life

now seeing there is
but one way out
his mind is cleared of all its doubt

his trembling hand
picks up the knife
he sorrowfully takes his life
