The Game

by Johnny Marlin 2   Feb 19, 2005

Darkness whispers sweetly
The sound of soft caress
Omnipotent shadows
But my cares I will suppress

The angel in my daydreams
The goddess of love and hate
I feel you all around me
But you are not my fate

I will long forever trying
To see you once again
To hold your hand in longing
Until my heinous end

Just smile upon me once more
To fulfill my darkest desire
To gaze upon such beauty
Your voice soothing as a choir

My soul is for the taking
My life and heart are yours
A slave at the hand of a woman
To satisfy all your chores

Just stop this fretful grieving
Stop this anguish inside
I'm willing to give you anything
I feel as though I've died

I'm lost in this world without you
Although I never new your name
Why do the gods hate me
Or to them is it just a game

This is based on a book I read, hope you like it, although I know it isn't that great...

Hopeful, angry, regretful...I can see the series of emotions that would cross before this man's expression.
    Bravo.

Great can be a very subjective term. There were rough parts, but in general the poem flowed well and had a fabulously dark and almost fae quality to it. I "great"ly enjoyed it.
