A Broken Gem

by elise   Feb 25, 2005

I think about you all the time,
about that morning that I found out,
never a moment goes by when you're not there,
I feel your spirit move about.

I whisper to your soul,
and I pray to your heart,
and I ask you why you had to leave,
and leave my love torn apart.

I saw you lying dead,
and my heart skipped a beat,
I couldn't and wouldn't believe it was you.
as I stood there at you're motionless feet.

You're a broken gem of wonder,
how you made it through the life you were given,
I always think about your love,
and what caused you to be so driven.

Your death took my world that day,
and I'll never forget the look on your mother's face,
when she sat by you for hours,
and never had the strength to embrace.

I still remember your smile,
and your unforgettable love,
I still hear your breath on the wind,
and the rythym as you chased after a dove.

Now I still cry sometimes,
but I think I've made it through,
until some face reminds me,
and I'm forced to think of you.
