The Knife

by rachyBBY   Feb 25, 2005

She was holding the knife
When there was a knock on the door
She didn't want to answer it
She just didn't care anymore

The person kept on knocking
Every knock louder than the last
If she was gonna do this
She better do it fast.

She lifted the knife to her throat
Ignoring the annoying noise
She thought about her family
A family full of joy

She glanced at the door
As a thought ran through her mind
'Maybe I should just answer it,
Maybe just this one time.'

She dropped the knife to the ground
And headed for the door
Then she realized she heard no knock
The person wasn't there anymore

The person had given up
Like so many people in her life
Now she's giving up, too
So she can end her strife

She picked up the knife
And slit her throat
And what lay beside her
Was the letter that she wrote

'To everyone I love,
Please don't cry.
You know I had to do this.
There were just too many lies.'

She lay there motionless,
The knife by her throat.
A pool of blood beside her
Along with the letter that she wrote.
