Imaginary Suicide

" I just want to say that this poem is about my best friend who actually did the things in this poem. Please try to understand that help wasn't helping."

She sat there by the window
To watch her mom drive away.
Afraid that her dad would come home first and do those horrid things.
People told her that someone
Had it worse than her.
But she would shake her head
With disagreement
and always say: " You stupid people, you don't understand. Being raped, being abused, from your mother's man. Is far worse than anyone else here. You can never heal me you stupid people. So leave me be."

As the rapes went on,
and the fists kept coming.
All she could do was go into hiding.
The last night she was raped she finally gave up.

She called my house late that night
I told her I'd be right over.
To my surprise she sat with that gun
I still remember that dead look in her eyes. The pupil was covering her pale blue eyes. The blood from her pants stared to show through
She finally gave me one last look
and ended her sad life.

As she put the gun to her head.
She looked at me with approval.
I shook my head yes
My eyes were saying no.
Her body shut down
And her eye's faded away
All I have now is that horrible gun sound.

Sitting in her window as her parents drove away.
I knew she was in a happy place
And I knew she would watch over me.

I love you Mindy. I always will.
Don't give up on me!
I'll be there soon.
