I Wish I Was A Child

by Dallas Binner   Feb 28, 2005

I wish I was a child.
So I could believe,
that you'd never lie to me,
That you wouldn't deceive.

I wish I was a kid again.
If I wasn't I would know.
That I want to be grown up,
I just want to grow.

When we're children,
we see the world,
through a set of different eyes.
Eyes that are virgin and pure.

Is it a disguise?
Years of time attack the eyes,
in the form of lies and rage.
As the child becomes older,
the child starts to reach.

My eyes have become callused. Hardened like debris.
I hear them say "we'll be there"
I watch them lie to me.

Looking back on a vision,
sitting here today.
A child's eyes will start to tear,
when the child becomes a man.
