Please Stay Awake

by Infinite*   Mar 2, 2005

In to the darkness you start to fade,
Like sand through my fingers,
You are slipping away.

The watch on your wrist,
Takes its last ticks,
Your eyes growing empty,
They know you are sick.

Your chair back at home,
Is now getting cold,
The man in the corner looks lonely and old.

We hid the destruction,
With a fresh coat of paint,
But the smell of your downfall,
It still lingers faint.

The light growing dim,
The air getting still,
The color get dull,
Your heart gets a chill.

Your body surrendered,
Your eyes to the sky,
But don't accept fate,
Until Ive said good bye.

So stay awake grandpa,
Please stay awake,
I'll get there tomorrow,
Just don't make me late.

*this poem is about my grand dad and how he was dying of lung cancer (due to smoking) but I wasn't\'inin the same country as him to visit :-( any votes would be great
