The worst poem ever

by Edina   Mar 10, 2005

All perfect u may seem
so sheltered and naive
but i know that youre wounded
and its hard for others to believe

i see you when they dont
when you are all alone
the tear stained pillows,
the pounding head, the broken
things that u have thrown.

why must everyone pretend
when they feel the same pain too
because when i look in you mirror
i feel like i know the true you

i know about the hidden words
about all the secrets and the lies
the attempts to keep pretending,
so many desperate tries.

That girl that looks back
every time I look at you,
Tells me she knows the real me
And she knows all my secrets too

I ask her why she must hide it
Why she has to go on and continue to pretend,
With a sigh, the answer comes, “those who
Don’t feel the same way just wouldn’t understand”

I hear someone coming and I quickly dry my tears
Because I don’t want to cry in front of anyone else
the door rattles as they come in to see me
in front of the mirror ….talking to myself

interesting piece, significant and different. I appreciate it for its' originality and honest reality. I hope maybe one day pretending will pass and the real you will return the look through the mirrored glass. Here's to survival and the walk of life - don't do it according to others because they say its right. fight the urges, fight that system, there are others out here who share your condition. Well written in its own special sense, the image created really hit close to home, besides the whole girl part. that was an attempt at shedding some light on a serious situation. All jokes aside, good job on the poem and im hoping to see more of your great work, your flow is undeniable and powerful. keep it up girl....
