Drifting Memory

by Angel Sanctuary ©   Mar 11, 2005

How many nights
Do I have to watch my tears
Flow over my room
With pain of distant memories
And new pain I create everyday

I’m tired of making people say
That they love me
Inside I probably know they do
I don’t understand why I just don’t believe
Maybe it’s because I am an absent child

Absent from the life I was given
A walking shadow afraid of the light
Yet without the light I’d disappear
Maybe that’s why I love the darkness so much
I’d disappear into the dark; never to be seen

Just a distant memory to everyone
One day you’ll say
“I remember that girl”
And continue to eat dinner with your family
Just a distant memory
Heh! That sounds nice

I pray for the day when the sun goes away
I’d never be seen again to the world
Lost in the darkness engulfing everything
You will never know where I am
Just a drifting memory by then
