Sadness and a broken heart

I cried a thousand tears tonight
so cold, they felt like ice
it’s painful to remember
what happened this stormy night

i found out my love had died,
a knife was in her heart
she said she couldn’t live no more
and from this life she must part

all the darkness in her past
made her feel alone
and even though she loved me
all she gave me was a heart of stone

she wanted to be with me
she wanted to feel whole
but no matter what she did
she still had an empty soul

tonight i got a call from her
she sounded so very scared
i asked her what was wrong
and all her feelings she did share

she said nothing seemed to matter
if all you do is cry
she said that she loved me
but she still wanted to die

i got into my car
and drove as fast as i could
i knew i had to save her
and change things from bad to good

i ran upstairs up to her room
and opened up the door
but there was my love,
lying on the floor

i cried a thousand tears tonight
tears as black as the sky
i will never forgive myself
for never saying goodbye

i was angry at myself
for she and i are now apart
who is going to save me
