A Bucket of What-ifs

A Bucket of What-ifs

You left me standing there
Arms extended, wanting you near
Just wanting to hold you tight
Losing you is something I fear

What-if I was crying
For which I was
You’re all I ever wanted in life
You have moved on, what-if

What-if you could always count on me
Where did I go wrong
I loved you without restriction
Wanted the love returned, what-if

What-if our prayers were answered
For me they truly were
My angel, you were a gift from God
Could you listen to God more, what-if

What-if we pursued the plans we made
For they were honest and pure
Taking joy in each others presence
Were your other activities so important, what-if

What-if we didn’t cry after making love
For us as one, was so beautiful
I still carry your warmth day to day
Was it just me in love, what-if

What-if I was happy just being part of your life
To share the joys and sorrows
The chance to look deep in your eyes
You always caved looking at me, what-if

What-if we had never met
Chances at what we both learned lost
Would this daily sorrow that I endure, never had been
Would this love that never was, change my life, what-if

What-if I didn’t have this bucket of what-ifs
Filled till it was overflowing
Would my life be enriched over what never was
Perhaps if you borrowed my bucket, what-if

What-if you took an evening to read my what-ifs
Could we look past pains and hurt and move forward
If you collected your own what-ifs, I would surely read
For you enriched my life, like it has never been

What-if
