I care (a poem for a friend)

You may not know
How scared I really am for you
I wish that I could make you change
I wish you wouldn't do the things you do
I wish you wouldn't party
That you wouldn't take those drugs
I wish someone could save you
Give you strength from up above
I wish you wouldn't smoke
Or drink until you pass out
I wish you wouldn't get so high
I don't know what it's about
You are so pretty
And I know you're really smart
But your making bad decisions
Your tearing your life apart
Don't you want to go to college?
And be all that you can be
Or do you want to be nothing
All alone in misery?
I know that you can change
If you want to you can
If you try really hard
You could come up with a plan
Remember when we played softball
I wasn't very good
When I thought I would strike out
You always told me that I could
Don't you see?
I looked up to you in so many ways
I hoped that I could be
Just like you someday
What happened to that girl?
The one with all the strength
Please just try for me
I know that you can change
I miss the girl I knew
I don't know if you care
The girl that I once knew
I need her to be there
You may not want it
But you must know that I am scared
I don't want you to ruin your life
I can't help it, I care
