Pulses

by Emily Andrews   Mar 15, 2005

Clear
As the ringing of a bell
You shudder
As it pulses through you
And my ears ring, and sting
I’ll scream until my heart rips at the seams and bleeds,
Until you hear me
Until my voice is no more

Cold
As stepping out the door
In nothing but your nightgown
On that snowy Christmas Eve
You shake
As it pulses through you
Your body stings, and rings
I’ll scream until the wind stops blowing and the snow covers and suffocates me
Until you hear me
Until my voice is no more

Calm
As laying in front of the fireplace
Submerge yourself in a bath of warmth
You quiver
As it pulses through you
Your body thaws, and withdraws
I won’t scream until the fire dies away
You can’t hear me
My voice is no more
