Something New

by Molly Elizabeth   Mar 16, 2005

You turned away
from every touch
your so lost now
it was too much.
You had acceptance
but that wasn't enough
You had to be on your own
you had to act so tough.
She reached out
for your hand,
but the feeling was
something new.
You wanted to
but you couldn't smile,
so afraid it all
wouldn't last.
Slowly you were back in the dark
after months of
pushing her away.
Always in denial
of the reasons why
she didn't stay.
Made up excuses
told yourself you weren't to blame
but whatever the reason
she was gone just the same.
You couldn't let her in,
now you wish you had never let her out.
