If Only (For Claire)

She's lost and alone
Stuck in a place
She's meant to call home
Tears dominating her face

Is there any way out of here?
Wish I could save her soul
Take away every last tear
The pain seems beyond control

Things going from bad to worse
Everything's falling so far
Like some kind of curse
She adds scar after scar

Friends now turn away
Loosing everything she thought she knew
Wondering how can she stay
What on earth should she do?

She tries to end her life, make it end
She can't carry on anymore
She hasn't the strength to pretend
Doesn't know what it’s all for

She didn’t die, she’s still holding on
By a very thin, breakable thread
And I’m getting scared it won't hold long
I'm scared I might wake to see she's dead

Wish I could let her feel some
Of the happiness I've found
But she feels she has no one
That she's stuck fallen on the ground

If only things could heal
If only I could give her my smile
Take away the hell she must feel
Give her happiness, if only for a little while

Cos she's an angel. She once said
That she was shattered
Wings shredded, craving to be dead
If only she knew, how much she has always mattered.
