Distant Night

by Corey Gentry   Mar 23, 2005

When there’s nothing left but the end
Where does love start to fade away
How many more night will I question
How many silent prayers will I say

Life without you is suddenly in sight
I’m seeing it in the distant skyline
If I look so deeply into the sun
I can see a better time in it’s shine

But I’m blinded before I can grasp the image
That you will not be mine in time soon to come
Not with the love that I keep finding for you
Not from where you and I have been coming from

Because the end is the farthest thing
That the eye can see
But I will never accept it
Unless you’re here with me

That’s how it should be
With us holding on until the end
Looking at the sky from a basement
Away, our past, we will sweetly send

And once again, as if life had just begun
We will find ourselves under the light
We will see the love that was never forgotten
We’ll find each other in some distant night
..
But only if you let it
Will these word’s images come true
Only will I hold on
If I’m holding onto you

So, please, before the day comes too quickly
Let us share another night, let’s find love and fall in
Once again, let’s show our friends
A connection brighter than there has been

I’m not asking you to “stay with me”
I’m just asking for you not to leave
I’m trying so hard to show you
It’s okay for you to believe
.. Again..
