You Loved Me First

by cheese and money   Mar 23, 2005

Walking through the crowded halls,
stairing at the white-washed walls,
contemplating the possibilities
of the life so far away from me.

I think about the future,
The present, and the past.
The cries of yesterday never fade
They continue to echo in my brain.
my repetitive song continues on...
“None of this can last”

If you only understood
the depth of my emotions
Deeper than the common cold
Like the flu or pneumonia

Lying in my bed one night
I heard the voices praising loud
The chorus I’ve been waiting for
My anthem in resonant sound

This beautiful darkness left me blind,
but the sound of your voice led me only to find
Your perfect love.
Better than a heart filled poem,
Better than the dozen red roses it was accompanied by.
Better than that sacred first kiss...

No need for him to understand,
Or comprehend.
You made me the way I am today.
You love me.
You loved me first...
