Broken Angel

She thought she loved him
she thought she cared
she thought he was the one
but pain was all she bared.

never an, "i love you"
no hugs or even one kiss
everything was fine she thought
but love was missed.

she wanted that comfort
of being by his side
but no matter what he said
his orders she must abide.

saying she was happy
that everything was alright
until the next time he hit her
she did not even try and fight.

no matter what happened
she knew she could not win
so she let it go
until he hit her again.

she became trapped
under his deadly spell
she denied it
but knew it was hell.

she could not get away
but it was a thought
love she lacked
and that is exactly what she sought.

one day she left
and he came after her
next morning she awoke
in a hospital everything a blur.

she laid there for a while
then said her good-bye's
hugged her family and friends
then closed her eyes.

for some reason
it was her time to go
a broken angel
soon wings would grow.
