Fallen

by HJ   Mar 27, 2005

Red streaks of sunlight,
reflected like a path of blood.
Skylarks break cover,
fleeing from up above.

You were glowing as the
sun dazzled upon your smooth skin.
Yet misery, unbearable happiness visible,
restraining you from within.

If tomorrow could stay behind,
I would make it forever ours.
It leaves me numb inside,
you like this, full of emotional scars.

Your silent voice, shouting out
for help, with increasing desperation.
No witchcraft of divine intervention,
but mental suffocation.

There was a time I was so lonely,
the tears I cried.
But you came along, with sudden intoxication,
you dried my eyes.

A cage of depression has
imprisoned your dreams and mind.
Left you paranoid,
a traveler lost, running out of time.

We once animated each
other by the same determination.
From sunrise to sunset,
your journey has just begun.

And now as we sit together, underneath
the stars so bright.
I promise you this,
I won't let you give up this fight.

  • Impressive. I like the way your poems flow and the fact that they rhyme is even better. I think its harder to express emotion when it rhymes, but when you can it makes it all worthwhile.
