Poem For You

You've been on my mind all day
And I don't know what to do
So I'll sit here with my pen and paper
And write a poem for you.

I don't know what I'm about to say
I don't know what to write
I guess I'll start by saying
That I couldn't sleep last night.

I kept thinking about you
And wishing you could hold me tight
I can almost see your face
In the picture of you I have in my mind.

I let out a sigh
Wondering if you're thinking of me
Or of everything we've had so far
And everything that we could be.

We're such good friends
And I don't want to lose you
We're closer than most siblings
You know that it's true.

I really want to thank you
For being there for me
When I had bad days
You'd put a smile on my face, cheerfully.

You brushed away my tears
And easily cheered me up
When life became to difficult to handle
When just getting through the day was tough.

I remember the days
We dressed like twins
From the colors we wore
To all the little odds and ends.

We have a unique friendship
We're so different, yet so much the same
We share favorite colors
And there's a rhyme when you say our names.

Although you hate to write
You love it when I write you notes
You tower ten inches above me
Even when I'm standing on my toes.

I could go on like this forever
Writing about me and you
But you and I know
That is something I probably shouldn't do.

If I kept on writing
And said all I wanted to say
I'd bore everyone to death
And just sit here at my desk all day.

So I'll end you with a good-bye
And that'll have to do
I'll now draw to a close
And end this poem I wrote for you.
