The * haunted * house

by chloe   Apr 5, 2005

It was in a dark wood that the terror began
When I went to a small cottage to visit my Gran
The house was small and in the middle of no where
It was made out of wood with lots of wear and tear
My Gran hobbled around on her one leg
Talking of her neighbor that was now dead
He haunted her house, as that’s where he’d died
“In my Bedroom as it so happens” she sighed
She said she went to where he’s body lied
A young man in a white coat said he’d committed suicide
But why would he go to such a great extent
He had a wife and children who loved him to their hearts content
Between you and me I don’t agree with the police
Or why wouldn’t his soul rest in peace
She told me of all the noises she had heard
Of creaking floorboards and voices, it was absurd
That night my gran and I slept in the room
In my right palm I tightly gripped a broom
Just in case I needed it to fight off the ghost
I don’t know who was frightened the most
I put on a brave face to keep her smiling
The weather was wet and there was fierce lightening
I curled up, frightened in a small ball
As something appeared that was about to reveal all
In the corner of the room appeared a faint out line of a man
And behind him with a gun was none other than my gran
In a terrible fright I leaped off the bed
not looking at the outline but my gran instead
"You murdered him" I said in a terrified voice
“You don’t understand,” said my Nan “I had no choice”
I backed away from her in confusion and fear
She wasn’t as innocent and she had once appeared
She told me he broke her heart and it wasn’t fair
I was shocked to find out they’d had an affair
She was eighty and he was only forty-two
What on earth was I now meant to do?
Out of all the things to happen, this I did not expect
To just think that one time in my life, for this woman I had respect
She took a gun out of her pocket and held it high
“Now you’ve seen the truth dear granddaughter, you must die”
I screamed for my life and ducked under the bed
But she lifted the quilt and shot me dead
Now I haunt the house along with the man
The man who had also been killed by my gran
We will haunt the house until the day
Until the day my gran finally passes away
Until that day comes, not a minute too soon
She faces a life of suffering and doom!
