Torn in two

The day the bell was rung
I was told the news
my heart was torn in two
my wrist that nigh became bloodier
my stomach growled
It started with a rumor
she had cancer
it became nonfiction
she would die
doctors came
nurses rushed
My heart was torn in two
she would leave
I would spin
my mind a vortex
doctors called
rumors became true.
cards were sent
balloons were popped
people feared me
sympathy was sent.
never directly, who would want to be seen with the girl who had cancer?
i was torn in two.
