Blinding Abyss

by JustAFoolInLove   Apr 10, 2005

Tip the candle
Cast the flame
And let me see
Your gothic pyre

In a world of negatives
Where white is black
And holy shadows
Cry out in pain

This is my mind;
How the world looks
From the eyes
Of a pain-tortured soul

Just blinding lights
For righteous things
And empty darkness
For morose figures

I’m colorblind
I only see shades
Of high-low glory,
Or a scale of suffering

What is wrong
With my reflection?
It’s the darkest thing
Amid the night

I don’t deserve
To even look into
The other side
Of the white/black spectrum

I turn away,
Resist temptation
To glance in hopes
Of a beckoning hand

If I get my hopes up
Just to be let down
I increase my chances
For a catastrophic fall

The truth is that,
Though I need help,
The road to it
Could be my end

    I'm glad you're seeing things in a different light, now. You're a much...happier person.
But you're still the same. Always the same.
