Rain

by Mercedes*   Apr 13, 2005

We danced together in the rain,
You kissed my lips as the drops ran down my face in vain.
The more it came pouring down,
The more the drops glistened in your eyes but never hit the ground.
We went down to the beach to where the water flows,
We laid together in the water with the sand between our toes.
The waves crashing against the rocks in and out it goes,
The water from the rain still dripping from our clothes.
We watched the sun set far off in the sky,
As the last weeks of summer slowly started to say goodbye.
I knew just like the summer we would slowly fade and fall,
But as they say "it's better to have loved and lost then never loved at all."
As it got later we started to head home,
Leaving behind our memories carved among the stone.
You would always walk me home and kiss me sweet goodnight,
Until tomorrow you would say as you held me tight.
Now that your gone I'm trying to maintain,
As I think about you and I that day out in the rain.
Surprisingly enough I don't feel alot of pain,
Because now I realize to lose you a part of me I gain.

Beautiful poem! Great imagery, I could almost feel the rain and loss as if it were me there. Really weird is that it's actually raining where I am right now... wierd isn't it? Anyway keep up the great poems and read some of mine if you get the chance. Have a good day :-)
