Running

Running on this treadmill, staying in the same place
Getting ever faster trying to increase my pace
Running through scenery, placed permanently in the room
Not getting any further, away from the coming doom

Staring out the window, at the traffic passing by
Looking at the rain clouds that always fill the sky
Jogging on the treadmill with the music playing loud
Watching people walking past, merging in the crowd

Still running on this machine, like a pathway through my life
Hallucinations mark my path out images of strife
Running on the same spot, that I was on an hour ago
It grips me tight like glue, it will never let me go...
