In That Dark Room

by Peter Williams   Apr 15, 2005

In that dark room,
There was many of people and persons,
Many of smiles and laughter.
It was quiet…
Though there was commotion,
It was quiet…
In that dark room,
Silence bestowed me and the darkness took me,
The twilight emit from a light source not found.
In that dark room,
My eyes sought out familiar sights, people, places.
Alas to no avail…
In that dark room,
My eyes acted on their own,
With no emotion nor warmth.
In that dark room,
I saw something,
Something I was meant to see.
Another…
This other returned the gaze.
In that dark room,
We were locked into a gaze,
Peering into each other’s souls.
From this time stood still,
Seconds became minutes,
Minutes became hours,
Hours became days,
And days felt like a lifetime.
In that dark room,
Was it my imagination?
Was it real?
No matter what it was,
I was meant to see it.
In that dark room,
You smiled to me.
In that dark room,
You waved to me.
In that dark room,
My heart skipped a beat.
In that dark room,
I found love.
