Painful World

I've learned that nothing lasts forever
and that everybody cries
even the truest love
could be filled with lies

roses have their thorns
rainbows always disappear after the rain
most people just care about themselves
and they try to hide their pain

some smiles are fake
and sunsets go away
darkness sends a shadow over the earth
until it gets bright the next day

relationships break up
and friendships usually end
people cry themselves to sleep
and hearts don't always mend

with those few illusions of happiness
the world is really a painful place
always looking for it's next victim
to take the smile from their face

I'm happily in love with him now
but no one can stay truly happy for long
I don't even want to blink
in fear that happiness could be gone
