The Last Dance

by Momentary Relapse   Apr 21, 2005

Once more I dance the dance
With death smiling cheering me on
He hopes that this will be the last
That this is my last try to die

We circle in the dangerous dance
First facing one another now not
I’m gripping the knife he’s taking my life
This is just another game he plays

One false step and this dance is done
Death would win another one
He’s urging me to continue with this
Hoping to help end my life today

I never know how long it’s been
How long I have had this dance
It feels as though I did all my life
With death grinning taunting me on

Continue our slow moving dance
We circle prepared for another cycle
Again we start commencing our dance
Death chanting hoping this is it

Twisting around I wait then turn
We flow smoothly passing each other
His masked hunger is revealed to me
He hungers for my life with so much greed

I stumble just short of falling down
One more mistake and this dance will end
Death is eager to help me and win again
Forever caught in a cycle this is the last dance
