Anorexic Ego

by Frankie   Apr 25, 2005

All she wants is to make an impact
But she can't even impress her family.
A non-existent ego starves,
day after day
Every disappointment,
Every discouraging word
Smaller and smaller

A door has opened
Talent recognized
Her heart soars with every new praise.

A hundred compliments paid her way.
Only one critic, a loved one.
He was all it took.
An anorexic ego,
Starved again.
