Everybody Leaves

A door slams in the middle of the night
Another tear is lost
Shouts and screams surround the fight
Another line is crossed

Mistaken incidents brought back again
A tear falls down alone
Vicious words and insults echo
Around four walls of stone

The night is cold, the mist prevails
A tear makes frozen tracks
Searching under the midnight sky
…Trying to bring him back

A promise once made is broken again
Another tear is created
Splashing down on more broken trust
A hopeful expectation deflated

Bitter feelings contrast with love
A tear for words unspoken
Another promise is made in its place
Again the promise is broken

Not enough strength to survive alone
A tear for all that I lack
Calling the number, there’s no response
…She just won’t come back

Words of such care…shattered and torn
Another tear of emotion
Bruises of dejection have to be worn
Caused by their supposed devotion

Hugs and smiles, now twisted, forgotten
A tear for lonely souls
My heart has so many broken windows
Their bullets caused the holes

Sad goodbyes on once promised love
A tear now painted black
Confused to reasons but one thing I know…
…They won’t be coming back

She touches my hand; her face is so pale
Another tear brings pain
I see her life slipping, her body so frail
She rests in my photo frame

Six feet under but still so near
A tear rests on my heart
Memories collide with tears from the day
When life tore us apart

Her face now only seen in my mind
Another tear held back
Drenched in sorrow from knowing the truth
…She’s NEVER coming back
