Tonight

by JeBeGood   Apr 30, 2005

I’m sitting here alone tonight
With only you in mind
Wishing I could know tonight
The path to peace I’ll find

I’m lying here with you tonight
Dancing through my dreams
Patience knows no end at night
When it’s just your eyes I see

I’m wishing to the sky tonight
That my silence will subside
Wondering where you are tonight
Wishing we’d have tried

I’m missing your blue eyes tonight
And every moment that passed by
Knowing that I cried at night
When did we cross the line?

I’m living in the past tonight
Praying my eyes told no lies
All I wanted to say that night
Prisoner to my silenced cries

I’m not denying anymore tonight
I hoped It’d never come to this
I will surrender this last fight tonight
Where were the signs we missed?

I’m looking at the stars tonight
Knowing we were forbidden
When my entire body says it’s right at night
My mind knew it was a sin

I’m reminiscent of the times tonight
There was never a chance for this
With no promises of forever at night
Or sweet nothings on my lips

I’m reliving all the pain tonight
Through the story of two lovers
Who kept walking in the rain at night
To keep it undercover

I’m learning to let go tonight
Longing is what I’ll do
I know we’ll meet again some night
This I know is true

ya, its completely true (thats when the best of poems come out for me). It is sad but it tells the story that another one of my poems really gives the more detailed version of. This is just the no specifics, dreamy version of my poem called "His Best Friend"

  • really great poem... i can relate to it, and its so easy to understand... 5/5
