Somebody's Hero

by Laura   May 1, 2005

She never pulled anyone from a burning building,
she never rescued a cat from a tree,
she never hit the winning run,
on a major league baseball team.
She never won an Olympic metal,
she never saved a crashing plane,
she never won the 500,
racing fast on victory lane.
She never stopped a terrorist attack,
she never went to the moon,
never had she revived someone,
of their dying doom.
She never faced her biggest fear,
she never won a fight,
she never had the guts,
to walk her neighborhood at night.
She never faced a gun,
pointed at her head,
she never stood up for herself,
no matter what other people said.
She never punched a bully,
for messing with some kid,
she never popped a cap,
on some big mouth's lid.
She never stopped a drunk man,
from getting into his car,
the poor girl died at 30,
never getting far.
She was just your average girl,
and I'd bet you'd never know,
deep inside that girl's heart was,
somebody's hero.

Not bad at all. I did like your conclusion. Though it could be a common misconception, it is a nice thought. Read some of my work if you get the time.
