What Green Eyes Hide

by Short Legs   May 1, 2005

Masked behind fear and concern
blinded by tears and cold burns
lost thanks to mass confusion
fading due to false illusions
hidden deep inside
there are things you'll never find
behind oceans of tears
are memories of lonely years
beneath these sad green eyes
there is pain, but it's no surprise
she hides it all inside her
but it never makes her heart any lighter
weary feet dragging her down the rocky road
are too weak to bare any more load
she forgets what her knees are for
as she collapses to the floor
with tears rolling down her cheeks
though no one ever sees her weep
her fingers trace the cracks in the tile
thinking what it would be like to escape for awhile
her head is weary while across the floor she sprawls
her hands are bruised from times they've collided with walls
the whispers held behind her lips
would tell you everything within a kiss
fooled by too many lies
theres been too many rounds of failed tries
so she pulls all the pain and hurt together
and hides it within her forever
holding onto love and deceit
of all the times trying to make ends meet
swearing sometime, someday in awhile
that in the end somehow she'll smile
