MUM

For 16 years you have caused me pain
I feel like you have driven me insane
I have spent everyday trying to hide it with a smile
But I’m hiding in a word that’s so hostile

You punished me for being here
If I had the choice I would just disappear
You screamed you shouted and you hit me
You’ve doneall this and still you don’t see

The bruises fade after a while
But trust me mum it wasn’t worthwhile
The names you call me, are always here
All you did was drive me to fear

I don’t understand why you did all this
I wish I did never exist
But still to this day I have to pay
And you wonder why I ran away
