Beauty And Innocence

by Ben   May 6, 2005

The black, dirty waters begin to clear,
And the sky shows shades of blue.
The mist is beginning to disappear,
And the brown grass now tints with green.

The stale air gets blown away,
To put new breath in my lungs.
With each step I take,
This new era has begun.

Upon the path I walk,
The dead trees begin to grow.
Above me soars a hawk,
The only living thing I’ve seen since home.

Behind me I see nothing but ruins,
The wasteland of desert with my footprints,
But in front of me, a blossoming dawn,
Filled with beauty and innocence.

I take another step into this untainted land
Leaving the empty hell behind.
I turn around one last time,
And remember my past that I’m leaving behind.

I see something that I never saw,
All this time along side of me,
Steady walls to guide me out of there,
And into this new land.

Under my footprints,
New growth from heaven.
The beauty and innocence,
And this pure realisation.
