Stay

by misty   May 10, 2005

A flower blooms in sunlight
Safe and loved in each new ray
Too soon the sun must set and fade
While the flower whispers "Stay"

She's all grown up and off to school
He can't find the words to say
"I love you child; be careful
But most of all please, stay!"

He holds her hand she's fading fast
He knows this is the day
For 60 years he's loved her so
And now he begs her "Stay"

You see my love the story goes
If you love them set them free
And if they come back opened armed
You'll know it's meant to be

But like the flowers selfish love
I need to hold you near
For if you leave my heart would break
And never mend I fear

So while I hold you in my arms
Each moment I will pray
I love you Mike and always will
I need you baby "Stay"
