An Undying Legacy

by Lipton   May 14, 2005

Always willing to lend a hand,
To help you when you're down,
Even if she didn't know you,
She didn't like a frown.
Her staunch, ambitious heart,
Overwhelmed her highest peak,
Her sweet and wild smile,
Is too hard to even speak.

Now she's laid to rest forever,
In our hearts and in our minds.
But her burning devotion,
Will stay with us for all Time.
The impact that she had,
Is too great for words to say,
But live the way you know she would,
Bring the light to the darkest day.

Her legacy is in our lives,
Her smile on our faces,
Her caring, loving heart,
Is there in those tights places.
If she lived out in her loving style,
The world might stop and see,
The love there is to offer,
And the care that can be received.

Now she's laid to rest forever,
In our hearts and in our minds.
But her burning devotion,
Will stay with us for all Time.
The impact that she had,
Is too great for words to say,
But live the way you know she would,
Bring the light to the darkest day.

So many tears have bid her gone,
And still some cannot fully tell,
The reality of her absence,
It's like a terrible Hell.
"Time heals all wounds," some say,
And though we must go on,
Her legacy of care and love,
Will keep us going on.

Her body might be broken,
And her soul might not be here,
But her attitude and lifestyle,
Can dispel all of your fear.
If ever you are down,
Or see someone else in need,
Just remember Lacey,
And plant a loving seed.

Dedicated to Lacey Ann Curtis who died in a car wreck, alongside her best friend Whitney, on Saturday, May 7, 2005.

I'm sure both those girls would have loved these poems. This poem was just as touching as the last one.
