I'm Sorry Now

With tears in my eyes I write this poem
To tell you just how sorry I am
I know that i really did bring you much pain
I was bitter and near drove myself insane
'Cause I couldn't allow myself to love you another day
But now I know just how you must have felt
With me acting like you never cared
Saying the harshest things you ever heard
I just didn't think my life could continue
with you gone away.

I haven't found a way to let you go
And I was upset that you seemed to move on
Like nothing even went wrong
But if I say I love you
Then why would I want you to suffer my ruin?
Why would i want you to live in misery at all?

You must have felt betrayed and defeated
when I said "I'd never wanna see you again"
And stuff like "I'll kill myself",
I understand now that you did love me
but not enough to be more than just a friend
I was so unkind but now I apologize
Please I've bottled the tears I cried
Take it and let it remind you
That I loved you more than life
And I'm sorry I made you cry
